About ISBN Conversion
The ISBN-13 replaced the ISBN-10 as the standard in 2007. The ISBN-13 format is 13 digits long, while the ISBN-10 format is 10 digits long. ISBN-13 numbers begin with a 978 or 979 prefix, which identifies them as book identifiers from the EAN.UCC numbering system.
This converter tool helps you switch between these formats. Please note that ISBN-10 conversion from ISBN-13 is only possible for ISBN-13s that start with the prefix 978.
How to Use the ISBN Converter
- Enter your ISBN number in the input field. It can be either ISBN-10 or ISBN-13.
- Click the "Convert to ISBN-10" button to convert an ISBN-13 to ISBN-10 (only applicable for 978 prefixed ISBN-13).
